culture crunch #2

‘I feel like such a heifer. I had two bowls of Special K, 3 pieces of turkey bacon, a handful of popcorn, 5 peanut butter M&M’s and like 3 pieces of licorice.’ – Cher, Clueless

I think I was getting too sucked into the nineties revival that is still going on that led me to re-watch Clueless, google Alicia Silverstone and discovering her new path of Kindness – and before you ask no she’s not a priest.

Alicia’s main gig now is veganism, the environment and health for people and the planet which she has turned into a mini personal empire broken down as ‘The Kind Diet’, ‘The Kind Life’ and various other bits and pieces. And at some point last week when I was supposed to be doing something ‘productive’ found myself on The Kind Life pages getting seriously excited by the recipe section. Now given my love of food books, I have documented several times about how i rarely actually follow recipies, mainly because they have WAY too many ingredients for my liking. I also really like meat and it does magic to my body. (2 weeks back in the land of red meat and general meat and my skin has improved, my lethargy has disappeared and I feel, just better) However Alicia’s recipies and those submitted are focused on being protein balanced vegan/veggie options and are super easy to follow… well i mean they look super easy to follow I haven’t actually followed any yet. I just read them all, tweeted about how much I liked them and then did a little dance when Alicia herself favourited/liked my tweet.

The Saudi Pilots – You heard about them right? Sureley? No? Well that sums alot up. This week the first plane was landed in Saudi Arabia by an all female Saudi crew. Because you know, women can fly planes too and Royal Brunei airlines gave them jobs, WOOOP for them. Although the irony is whilst they can fly a plane of, let’s be honest probably men, across the sky, when they land they aren’t allowed to drive so they have to get someone to pick them up from the airport. Seriously?! I know… why does the good stuff always come with a bitter side?

I am trying to read ‘Lean In’ by Sheryl Sandberg. It’s not going brilliantly, i’ll be honest…

Finally; I went to the city. I had an interview… watch this blank space babies…
